retired by the organization. Former player Dick McGuire wore that number, and it was retired in the early 1990's by the Knicks. That basically means that no new player can wear that number unless a special exemption is made, and in this case, no exemption is expected to take place.It's probably a safe bet that the first Carmelo Anthony Knicks jersey is going to be a hot seller as soon as Anthony decides upon a number, but he is probably the only person that knows for sure what it will be.
